Mysterious Svaneti
Svan towers were built between the 9th and 12th centuries in the Georgian historical region of Svaneti. These towers were defensive dwellings during the attacks or war. That is why they are unique to the region and the main sights for tourists to see.
St. Mary`s day (Mariamoba)
Georgian people celebrate one of the greatest religious holidays St. Mary’s Day (Mariamoba) on 28 August. On this day, thousands of Georgians go to the churches to light candles and pray. This time of the year we visit the cemeteries of our friends and family members.
The process of baking traditional dish - Kubdari
Georgian wine is one of the most important part of this day and not only.
While visiting the cemeteries we try to bring some traditional dishes and fruit there because Georgian people believe that all this is vital for our friend`s or family member`s souls.
Everyone especially men drink wine and pray for their souls. All this is unavoidable part of our tradition and people try to keep and continue it as it was in the past.
Thank you!
